We’ve been forced to spend all our time at home because it’s the safest place to be right now. However, staying indoors for such a long time can affect our mind and body negatively. Thus, it’s important to get enough sleep, stay physically active and take good care of yourself – body, mind and soul.
Here are some simple and effective tips to stay healthy and manage stress during this lockdown period.
01. Stay active
Staying in your bed and watching Netflix all day is the easiest thing to do during the lock down. But it is important to stay active – physically and mentally. Plan your day out; if you are working from home dedicate some time in the morning or evening for some sort of physical activity. Tell yourself that lock down is not an excuse to gain a few kilos. Practice meditation every day for at least 10-20 minutes to calm your mind and keep negative thoughts at bay.
02. Eat a balanced and nutritious diet
Cooking may not be your thing, but that does not mean you resort to eating only cup noodles. Avoid heavy meals as they can cause bloating and indigestion. Eat small portions of healthy meals throughout the day to maintain a healthy immune system. Include plenty of fruits, veggies, proteins and whole grains in your diet.
03. Focus on self-care
Self-care has taken a backseat during this time because it seems pointless to some. However, putting on a sheet mask or following your CTM routine isn’t just about beautifying your skin. Spending some time alone and pampering yourself can instantly relax you and put you in a good mood.
04. Stay connected virtually
This is probably the longest you’ve stayed away from your friends and loved ones but you can still stay virtually connected. Get together on a video call or play online multiplayer games such as Scrabble or Psych. Make use of apps and streaming services that allows you to watch movies and TV shows at the same time with your friends.
05. Trust on reliable news sources
Information about the virus comes in from everywhere but it is important to trust only reliable sources and ignore messages that cloud your mind with negative thoughts. It is better to check your phone only at specific intervals to stay updated.
